Our life lately basically consists of work (and school for me) during the week and nesting during the weekend. Everybody nests in different ways, right? So what does nesting mean for us? For Matt, it means finishing house projects: he has worked like crazy with Miguel finishing all the trim in the house (we finally have trim after 3 years of being mostly done with our projects!), building a wine closest at the bottom of the stairs, making a medicine cabinet for our bathroom and a bunch of other odds-and-ends. For me, it's been mostly weeding - I hate weeding with a passion, but I hate weeds just a tab bit more than that and so I'm trying to get as much done as possible before baby comes.
And that's it... that's all we've done.
Yes, we do what we can to something fun here and there, but it's mostly felt like work (at work) and work (at home)... all the time. It's exhausting. But it's also nice to see stuff getting done that I know won't get done in just a few weeks when baby arrives.
What have we done for fun?... We pulled out Nico's pool for the summer, and we've had some fun with that.

My friend Amelia (who's due just a few days before me!) and her family were in TriCities visiting family for the Memorial weekend, so we drove out there to see them and catch up.

And our friendship daughter surprised us by coming back to town for graduation (she left last year to do a 3-2 engineering program). It was absolutely lovely to see her, cheer for her as she got her diploma, and spend some time catching up.

And last week, my good friends Brooke & Leann threw Matt & I a baby sprinkle to announce that we're having a baby girl and to celebrate the little jellybean. They did a fantastic job with the pink explosion decoration :) and it was really nice to have a relaxing evening hanging out with friends around their fire pit. And there was a pinata for the kiddos (and kiddos at heart) to enjoy!

Nico is growing up so fast, and as always, it's fascinating and a delight to watch how he changes and evolves every day.
I was feeling adventurous and gave him another haircut (that he desperately needed) a few weeks ago. I figured now is the time for me to learn and figure this whole process out when he doesn't really care what it looks like. It actually doesn't look to bad (he's even gotten some compliments!), but of course all I can see are the spots where I didn't do a good job. And then when he gets it all wet at the pool it looks absolutely ridiculous, but oh well :)

His language development continues to amaze me. I feel like we jumped from having a developing string of words that he would use to where I can have full conversations with him and that just blows my mind. As always, here are a few words/expressions that I find particularly adorable:
Patajo = pajaro
Posa = mariposa
Vutee = Savuti
Boobies = blueberries
Eto = Eco
A couple of weeks ago he was running around after bath and he discovered that Eco had already gone to sleep. So he decided that cuddling with Eco on his doggie bed made more sense than going to sleep in his own bed. Eco didn't seem to mind at all.

After the baby sprinkle, Matt & Diana left to go to San Diego for a memorial service for Grams. I wish I could have gone to have that time with Matt's family, but it was just too complicated in different levels, so Nico & I stayed. It's been an exhausting week, parenting solo while pregnant, and trying to stay on top of school work (this summer semester is going to kill me). But it was also nice to have that one-on-one time with Nico now while I still can and am not distracted by a baby that needs to nurse 24/7 (or that's what it'll feel like at the beginning at least).

| Cutest date in the world. |
Isn't he adorable :) Several people have commented on how impressed they were at his "grown up" dinner plate. And it's not that he actually eats everything on his plate (he only likes the top bite of the asparagus), but it has made meals so much easier (and not a battle) when we just dish him whatever we're all eating and then he gets to decided what and how much he eats of what's there.
And it also gives him a chance to choose when he wants to be adventurous. Up until a week or so ago he refused to even look at strawberries. Then he decided to try one, and he's discovered he loves them. That night we "shared" a box of strawberries - I think I maybe had three, and he ate the rest.

You're so sweet - when I buy strawberries, the boys get three and I gobble up the rest! I'm very excited that you are having a girl! I can hardly wait to see photos (especially since that will mean that my baby boy will either be here or be close to being here!!!)!
